About Us

“How shall I make a return to the Lord
for all the good he has done for me?”
(Psalm 116:12)

Challenged by this question and inspired by St. Francis’ love for the poor, my husband and I founded New East, Inc., a nonprofit organization, when we retired from work in 2004.

New East, Inc., a 501©(3) nonprofit corporation, is organized and operated exclusively under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law for public and charitable purposes.  We raise funds through charitable contributions to provide financial support for programs such as housing, moral formation, livelihood, education and other related activities, for the benefit of indigent people. We accomplish this by financially helping religious groups and other public benefit organizations who can exhibit viable programs which train and develop indigent people become more productive; hence, improve the quality of their lives.

What we are……..

Just like the sun rising in the east, our 501©(3) public benefit, nonprofit organization is trying to help indigent people help themselves by providing a “new east” to them.. In essence, we aim to give

  1. hope to the hopeless
  2. help to the helpless
  3. home to the homeless
  4. moral formation and leadership skills
  5. education to the illiterate
  6. self sufficiency where there is none

What we are not…….

    • a dole-out organization,
    • we don’t hand out money or goods except on certain holidays
    • we don’t build homes for the homeless and leave
    • we are not organized for the private gain of any one person or institution
